Changes
<>The fires of February 2009 have burnt some of the areas covered by
this
guide. Walks 22, 26, 27 and 29, 31, 33, 34 and 35 are currently closed.
Walks 28 is now open.
Parks plan on
progressively reopening these tracks as fire assessment and repair
works proceed.
Page 4. The publisher address has changed to PO Box 5042, Laburnum,
Victoria 3130.
><>Page 17, Tides. The Flinders website has closed. Tides can now be
obtained at www.bom.gov.au/oceanography/tides
><>Walk 15, trees and flood debris often block parts of the first 5km
of
the walk. Sometimes it is
necessary to climb and sidle past these obstacles so expect progress
for the first 5km to be slow.
>Walk 16, map, vertical grid numbers should be 29, 30, 31 (not 28,
29, 30)
Walk 21, on weekends, all day parking can sometimes be hard to find
around
Mordialloc. One suggestion is the car park near the corner of Chute
Street and Governer Road in Mordialloc on the east side of the railway
line (Melway 92 G1) - this is not far from the station. Or during
weekdays there should be plenty of parking near the sportgrounds in
Centennial Park in Chelsea (Melway 93 D12 or 97 E1) - you would then
join the circuit walk from the 12.5km point in the notes.
Walk 38, the start of the walk at the end of the nature trail is
currently not obvious. The left track looks like a vehicle access
track but is actually the end of the nature trail. If the track is
still not found then do the entire walk in reverse - some groups have
found this to be OK. Also Triangle and Link Road are swapped over on
the signposts - all maps show them as we do but on the ground at
present they are signposted as each other - we are sure you are as
confused over this one as we are.
