Weather Conditions for the Larapinta Trail, Northern Territory


Avoid this place during the hot summers. The winter months from May to September are ideal. Bring a good sleeping bag as its cold at night.

Rainfall is very low and spasmodic. Most months there is very little and lack of water can be a major problem.
Average yearly rainfall is 275 mm (11 inches).

Rainy days are the exception. For most of the year perfect clear days are normal. Bring a shady hat and sunscreen as clouds are not common.

Accuracy - Excellent, weather records have been kept for over 100 years for Alice Springs which is the eastern terminus for this walk.
