Weather Conditions for the west coast of South West Tasmania

The weather on the west coast is milder than the south coast. Summer is not as hot and winter is not as cold.

Rainfall is about half that of the inland ranges. While it may not rain much on the coast, expect rivers to flood. Average yearly rainfall is 1350 mm (53 inches).

While it rains on about the same number of days as it does inland, it is often just showers and drizzle compared to the heavy rainfall inland.

Accuracy - Based on 70 years of records from the Cape Sorrell lighthouse. This is located on the coast at the entrance to Macquarie Harbour..
