Paddy Pallin's Bushwalking and Camping (14th edition) edited by Ian Brown published by Paddy Pallin, 1985. A classic book about basic equipment, skills and navigation for bushwalking. Price is around A$18.

Bushwalking and Ski Touring Leadership (3rd edition), published by Bushwalking and Mountaincraft Training Avisory Board (BMTAB), 2000. The handbook for leadership and also includes heaps of useful information for overnight walkers. Highly recommended reading. Price is around A$30.

Never Truly Lost - The Recollections of Paddy Pallin (1st edition reprinted) by Paddy Pallin, published by New South Wales University Press, 1987, ISBN 0 86840 194 3. Interesting stories about major events in the life of one of the important figures of Australian bushwalking. Price is around A$23.

King of the Wilderness - the life of Deny King, by Christobel Mattingly, published by Text Publishing, 2001 (it has been reprinted several times). Interesting account of the man who lived at Melaleuca in South West Tasmania - he was well known to many bushwalkers as he provided huts and humour in the middle od the wilderness. I even get a mention in it. Price is around A$23.

Getting started (1st edition) by Nick Baxter, published by WILD magazine, 1992. A small guide of 12 pages of good information for 'Beginners to Bushwalking'. Price is around A$7.50.
